The performance « a black is a black is a black » is a hymn to the colour black, a self-representation of this colour through the means of wood-engraving, a tribute spanning the century to Kazimir Malevich’s wart, a prayer to the great nothing, a foregrounding of the material aspects of the colour black, a way of presenting its production, a transposition of the mystical sentence “a rose is a rose is a rose”, the circle in which the artist is dwelling, a landscape, a question, a situation, an action, something that might correspond with a prose poem, an act of resistance to meaning, a closing, an opening. The action perfomed is utterly simple : a printer prints black engravings and offers them to the audience. The printing machine is also a showcase displaying various engravings presenting the action and telling the printer what he has to perform.

La performance « un noir est un noir est un noir » est un hymne à la couleur noire, une autoprésentation du noir par le biais de la gravure sur bois, un salut à travers le temps à l’oeuvre de Kazimir Malevich, une prière au grand néant, une mise en évidence de l’aspect concret de la couleur noire, une présentation d’un processus de production du noir, une transposition de l’expression mystique « une rose est une rose est une rose », un cercle à l’intérieur duquel l’artiste se promène, un paysage, une question, une situation, une action, l’équivalent d’un poème en prose, une action de résistance au sens, une fermeture, une ouverture. L’action est simple : un imprimeur imprime des gravures noires et les distribue au public. Sur la machine, des gravures sont affichées qui présentent l’action et dictent à l’imprimeur ce qu’il doit faire.
